9 Korean Skin Care Products With A Cult Following
In the world of Korean skin care, the word “cult” never seems to be overused… because there are just so many great products that does magic on your skin.
In fact, so vast is the number of great skin care products with ruthlessly loyal users, that we would easily run into the hundreds if we were to list down all the great products available.
You know the moment when you used something on you face and wake up the next day thinking where the hell has this product been all your life?
Well this is a common affair in Korean skin care.
So wonderful they are, you might even feel so lucky that the beauty gods allowed you to buy them at inflated prices.
Anyway, here are 9 of the best Korean skin care products with a cult following.
Please note that this is not a 9-step facial process to follow. This is just a list of some of the great products I have used to great effect. You need to trial and test them out to see if they are suitable for you skin.
1) Mizon all-in-one snail repair cream
If this is the first time you have heard about snail slime used in skin care, you might feel disgusted. And no one would fault you for being so.
Yet snail mucin is an ingredient that not just improves the vitality of skin, but also supercharges regeneration and recovery.
The key benefit of Mizon’s all in one snail cream is to fade away acne scars and blemishes left behind from pimples. It also provides adequate moisture for those with oily and combination skin.
People with dry skin might find the moisturizing effect leaves a little to be desired.
If you want to use a snail cream and find that this products does not do wonders on your skin, an alternative to this product is Secret Key snail repairing cream.
2) Innisfree green tea seed serum
This is the number 1 seller of the brand. And that is saying a lot when you witness the chaotic scenes in any of their retail outlets in the busy streets of Seoul.
The serum contains green tea and green tea seeds from Jeju island. It acts as both a nourishment and moisturizer to your skin.
And the scent is just beautiful. I’ve yet to meet anyone who has a deep hatred for the smell of green tea. And you would love the fresh scent of this serum the very moment you squeeze a drop onto your hand.
Bear in mind that this serum is just 1 product out of their whole green tea line of facial care. You might want to try out the whole range if the seed serum does a good job on your skin.
Acknowledging that people have different skin conditions, Innisfree created 3 different variants of toner, emulsion, and cream for this line.
- Fresh for oily skin
- Balancing for combination skin
- Moisture for dry skin
Unless you have dry skin, I suggest that you go with Fresh to see your suitability and gauge reaction before moving on to balancing.
3) Laneige water sleeping mask
Laneige is a big player in this industry with a HUGE following. I’ve been using their foam cleansers since 2007!
And there are just so many great products made by this industry juggernaut.
If I have to pick one, I have to go with the water sleeping mask.
Bloggers all over the world rave about this product and have it as a mainstay in their daily skin care regime.
It’s a “mask” meant to be used overnight. And while you sleep dreaming about kittens and butterflies, it does it’s job of deeply hydrating your skin from the wear and tear you left it exposed to during the day.
So confident are the people at Laneige of their products that you can often obtain generous samples from their stores to try out their products…
Because they know that you would inevitably come back for more!
So if you are unsure of whether leaving this overnight could cause breakouts, go walk into one of their stores or counters and get a sample to try out.
4) Missha time revolution first treatment essence
Leave it to the Korean beauticians to include more steps into their already-exhaustive infamous 10-step skin care routine.
As the name goes, this is to be used as the first step after cleansing your face with chosen facial wash.

Can you believe? |
It supposedly raises the skin moisture and radiance level so that the rest of the stuff you are putting on your face can do their work better.
To tell you the truth, I’m unable to see what benefits this brings to the table from an end result point of view.
Maybe I’m just not meticulous enough. Or maybe my skin type has little reaction to it.
But nevertheless, there are countless users of this product that swears by it’s magic.
5) Skinfood black sugar mask wash off
Chia seeds, orchids, egg whites, rice, etc. There seems to be a never-ending introduction of new product lines based on organic material regularly.
This black sugar product is an exfoliating scrub that promises to leave your face soft and smooth after washing off.
Porcelain condition.
Opening the door for all your essence, serums, toners, emulsions, creams, gels, etc, to do their jobs.
Even though you might love the feeling of what this scrub does for you, be wary not to put your skin under this kind of washing too often.
I scrub just once a week. At most two.
6) Etude House wonder pore freshner
This is a 7-in-1 solution targeting the pores that supposedly does:
- Deep cleansing
- Sebum control
- pH4.5 care
- Tightening of pores
- Clearing of skin
- Giving elasticity
- Moisturizing
That’s a lot to ask for a solution. Yet you wouldn’t doubt any of these claims once you used it and feel the calm soothing effect on your face.
You apply it right after cleansing live a conventional toner with a cotton pad.
Because it is a very liquid solution, be careful when dispensing so as not to put any of this gold to waste.
7) Wishtrend OST pure vitamin C20 serum
I don’t know how they came up with this name. Because it sounds like a term that came out of the new Terminator movie.
Everyone would know of the wonders of vitamin C for the human body. But most of the time, we consume them as food to boost immunity. So it makes common sense to feed it to the skin to keep it healthy.
This is a concentrated serum/essence that will deliver a dose of vitamin C to your skin. To the skin, I’d imagine that it would be like taking a drink from the fountain of youth.
Get ready for dramatic effect just like Mizon’s snail repair cream.
It is used to fade out age spots and lighten hyper-pigmentation.
If you find good results without bad reactions from using this serum, do check out the newer version of this product Wishtrend C21 5 that has a higher vitamin C content. And if you need a lighter dosage check out Klairs freshly juiced vitamin C serum or It’s Skin power 10 formula VC effector.
8) Nature Republic Aloe Vera Soothing Gel
This is like the US currency of skin care products. You can use it anywhere and have it accepted as something of value.
Use it for your hands, legs, body, almost anywhere.
Aloe vera is one of nature’s gift to mankind. And Nature Republic has made it their purpose to spread nature’s love to the masses.
9) COSRX One Step Pimple Clear Pads
COSRX is one of those brands that fly under the radar, yet has been growing it’s loyal fan base ferociously in recent years. It has carved out a niche for itself by identifying market gaps that the big brands have left open and conceptualizing products to specifically fill those gaps.
Among their many cult favorites including their blackhead and whitehead power liquids, their revolutionary skin returning A-Sol, and the low pH gel cleanser that sticks out like a sore thumb, the product that really put them on the map is the COSRX One Step Pimple Clear Pads.
Even celebrities have lauded this product without being sponsored to do so.
It comes in a round-shaped box containing cotton pads soaked with their magic formula which includes natural BHA to care for acne-prone skin.
If you are battling acne. You must absolutely check out COSRX’s product range as they have a great reputation in this segment.
Finally,
Please don’t take my word for it that these are great products. Different individuals have different skin types. You should try them out sparingly to observe for bad reactions before going all out to use them.
