9 Reasons To/Not To Buy Mizon All in One Snail Repair Cream

I first became aware of the use of snail slime in skin care products when visiting Korea in 2015. At that time, I felt that it must be another fad that would go away in a few months.

You know… these new products with new ingredients pop up in beauty outlets all the time.

Skin care and beauty companies can’t grab a huge market share with just 1 line of products. In order to build a larger following of user base, and increase revenue in this multi-billion dollar industry, creating new product lines is a tried and tested way to sell more.

Since a skin care product understandably cannot cater to everyone, a company has to either be contented with what little market share they already have, or come up with new products.

You see… in the skin care market, consumers can be fiercely loyal. Yet they are always ever so willing to try something new to see if something else works better on their skin.

And surely, if you use a lot of skin care, you are going to get curious when a product line uses an ingredient as attention-grabbing as snail goo.

Many skin care, cosmetics, and beauty companies have now joined the bandwagon of snail mucin. And one of the most popular products that has built a cult following is Mizon’s all-in-one snail repair cream.

I was pretty skeptical at first.

But lately I have found that blemish marks are staying longer than they used to on my face. Yes, this is what happens when you get old. Aging is starting to cause chaos to my skin recovery.

So I thought I’d give this product a try as it seems that many users have been raving about the healing effects on this cream.

Finding it on sale helped my buying decision. Just a little. 😀

After purchasing it, I went to do some more in-depth research of this product online. I was amused to find that some consumers are reporting of bogus imitation products pretending to be Mizon’s snail cream.

One of the ways to find out if yours is a genuine authentic product is if the item comes with a glittering seal on the box opening. Mine didn’t. But I was confident it’s the real thing as the seller seemed to be a reputable seller on the platform and there don’t seem to be any negative reviews calling it a fake.

Apparently, there’s also a manufacturer from China that packs the cream in 50ml rather than the 75ml on the official website. See for yourself.

Well… I’m not so sure about that. But what I got was the “old package”.

And so, the testing begins.

Firstly, let me declare that I have sensitive, acne-prone skin. And my skin condition is somewhere between combination and oily skin.

This means that I hate thick creams. They feel weird on my skin and tend to make me perspire when wearing them.

Texture and finish

So I was pleasantly surprised to find this product does not come in a thick texture. It’s not as liquid as a lotion. Yet not as thick as hand cream.

If it’s up to me, I’d like it to be a little more watery. But then again, it’s still liquid enough for me not to hate applying it.

Saying that, the texture of this cream has a silicon-like feel to it at first touch. But it turns watery when you start rubbing it into the skin. And the scent smells like… plastic!

But who am I to say what snail slime is supposed to smell like.

The good thing is that it applies easily and spreads out with little hassle. The weird aroma dissipates as soon as the cream is absorbed into the skin and dries up. Leaving a somewhat clean finish without being dry or matte.

The most important part for me concerning the finish is that it’s not oily. That would make me drop the product completely.

Amazing effect in 1 day

To tell you the truth, I did expect to see results as soon as I realize I don’t have a bad reaction to this snail repair cream. After all, a lot of beauty bloggers had nothing but good things to say about it.

But to see the result the next day is astonishing!

When I woke up the next morning after using this product for the very first time, I just did my daily morning wash routine. I noticed that my face is more moisturized and soft than usual.

Being half-awake still, I attributed that to one of those lucky days and a good night’s sleep.

But by the afternoon, I noticed that my face was still soft and felt smooth. It can only be the after effects of using Mizon’s all in one snail repair cream the night before.

However, I must add that because of my oily acne-prone skin, having too much moisture can sometimes be detrimental.

So even though there is an immediate effect on the condition of my skin, I wouldn’t say that it’s a 100% positive effect.

And I was right.

Because later at night, I noticed a few white heads popping up on my face. I’m not sure whether this is a purge or a minor breakout.

Yet I continued to apply the cream keeping in mind that the main objective of using this cream is to fade out scars, PIH, dark spots, and blemishes. The whiteheads disappeared within a couple of days anyway.

From some testing, I realized later that it was the snail recovery gel I used together with this cream that broke me out.

After 4 weeks

I’m glad that I stuck to this cream.

Because I can tell that my damaged areas are getting repaired faster than usual.

And I don’t know if this can be attributed to the cream as well. Because I find that certain facial areas that usually have a pink glow look more calm these days.

My pimple prone areas are also evening out nicely with fewer white heads than I’m used to.

So overall, I won’t exactly call this a holy grail product but I’d say that Mizon’s all in one snail repair cream is a great product that works. It certainly lives up to it’s reputation and has made improvements on the spots on my face

At the same time, please don’t expect this to be a magic cream. They don’t market themselves as such. So please don’t burden them with this expectation.

One last thing.

It’s not suitable to be used as a moisturizer for those with dry skin. I have oily skin and don’t find it moisturizing enough. So I can only imagine that it would be worst for those with dry skin. You can always layer a moisturizer over it.
